Web Developer role

The company is now looking to take on a Web Developer for the Cardiff Bay office, to carry out the day to day programming, development and support requirements of the business.

This is an end-to-end role which requires the ability to communicate with stakeholders, helping with the initial client meetings, and developing projects from concept though to successful delivery.

The role requires the ability to work under your own steam, in a small studio environment, be strongly committed and motivated, producing quality output to deadlines. The role is highly varied and offers a range of challenges on a daily basis. Typical requirements will vary from creating front end HTML/CSS templates through to building an entire responsive website from scratch in dynamic PHP, and integrating with backend CMS & Database processes.

The main part of the job is working on the company's CMS, further developing new features and supporting existing clients’ use of the system. The role will also involve liaising with clients, dealing with clients on the phone, helping to keep the MD updated on the status of projects, and generally pitching in with any other developmental jobs that the company gets involved with. You’ll be working in a small team, with other members not always in the same geographical location, but this can be a big role for the right person.

Skills and Qualifications needed

Personal qualities

You will have strong skills and be confident in the use of: PHP, MYSQL, HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
Translating the creative ideas of the design team into technical layups, using HTML and CSS, and to develop further interactivity and backend services with PHP, JavaScript, MySQL. 
The role also requires competency in SysAdmin for Linux servers.

  • PHP web application development experience
  • HTML5/CSS3
  • JavaScript/JQuery/Ajax/XML/JSON
  • Understanding of responsive web design concepts using media queries
  • Build websites across multiple platforms
  • Apache web server development
  • Design and development of in-house systems
  • Relational & NoSQL database design
